SEMURA SONORA ENSEMBLE

Founded in 2019 by Clara Espinosa Encinas and Lucien Julien-Laferri\u00e8re, Semura Sonora is an early music ensemble finding its roots in Spain, in Zamora (Castilla y Le\u00f3n). Initially intended to promote the musical heritage of the Zamoran<\/em> territory, it brings together musicians from the region and from other horizons around an ideal of historically informed musical interpretation, combining the practice of period instruments with musicological research. The musical training of its members, mainly at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel (Switzerland), provides the ensemble with a precise, yet broad, range of musical possibilities, with a predilection for Spanish music of the late 17th<\/sup> and 18th<\/sup> centuries.<\/p>\n

In order to revive unpublished musical manuscripts preserved in the archives of the Cathedral of Zamora, its founders have created a series of concerts entitled Sonoridades olvidadas<\/em> (“Forgotten Sounds”). Semura Sonora intends to be part of a movement to rediscover Spanish Baroque music and to contribute to the establishment of this unique and little-known repertoire on the local, national and international music scene.<\/p>\n
